Their Royal Highnesses mark International Holocaust Remembrance Day
My
wife and I mark this International Holocaust Remembrance Day in solemn reflection, joining people across Scotland
and around the world in remembrance of one of the gravest tragedies in human history.
We remember with profound sorrow the millions of innocent men, women, and children who were systematically
murdered during the Holocaust, and we honour the memory of all those who suffered persecution, dispossession, and
death as a consequence of hatred and intolerance.
Remembrance carries with it a duty — to bear witness, to uphold the truth of history, and to reject all forms of
antisemitism and prejudice wherever they may arise. It is through remembrance that we reaffirm our shared
humanity and our enduring commitment to dignity, justice, and respect for all.
As we remember the past, we also look to the future, resolved that the lessons of history must be preserved and
passed to the generations who follow us, so that such atrocities are never allowed to take root again.
